Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the organizers, we are pleased to invite you to the Silk Road Early-Career Scientists Forum on Extreme Climate Events and Impacts, to be held on 16-17 October, 2026 at Huibinyuan Hotel, Xi’an, Shannxi, China.

The Forum is part of the 2026 China–Central Asia Series of Activities on Science, Technology and Cultural Exchange, and aims to promote mutual learning and exchange across the Silk Road region, and to enhance the combined impact of cooperation in science, technology, and the humanities.

Extreme climate events pose critical challenges across the Silk Road region, demanding urgent scientific attention to key knowledge gaps in land-atmosphere feedback mechanisms and improved predictive capacity through integrated multi-scale observations and Earth system modeling. Through keynote presentations and interactive roundtable discussions, the Forum will promote international scientific exchange and collaborative dialogue on advancing our understanding of coupled climate processes, balancing impactful research with long-term scientific rigor, and fostering the next generation of climate scientists.
