中国科学院地球环境研究所研究员、基金委杰出青年基金获得者、国家自然科学基金重大项目负责人、国际人类世工作组委员、中国地质学会人类世研究分会副主任委员、美国Columbia University兼职 Senior Research Scientist、西安交大兼职教授。

主要研究兴趣在气溶胶、沉积物黒碳,全球气候与环境变化,人类世科学等,尤其关注自然火排放、焦炭、烟炱及其与环境变化和人类活动之间联系等。主要成果:(1)开辟焦炭与烟炱研究新方向,在国际上首次提出并从测量方法上区分了两种不同类型的黑碳-烟炱和焦炭,获国际同行广泛引用,明确了烟炱和焦炭的不同理化和光学性质,提出烟炱具有更强吸光性;(2)在野火研究中通过焦炭和烟炱不同指示意义,建立了区分明燃和焖烧新方法,并建立黄土高原第四纪高分辨率野火历史,首次明确第四纪明燃野火具清晰的冰期-间冰期旋回变化特点,从地质记录角度提出自然火通过排放溶解铁,影响海洋生产力及降低大气CO2浓度新机制,为理解野火气候效应提出新观点;(3)在人类世层型剖面研究中,依据玛珥湖特点,提出吉林四海龙湾玛珥湖是最佳的人类世层型剖面点位,在人类世层型剖面全球比对中(共12个点位,四海龙湾是唯一来自发展中国家),进入最终轮2个点位竞争中(另一个是加拿大Crawford湖),并成为候选辅助层型剖面。

主持国家自然科学基金重大项目、国际合作项目、科技部科技支撑计划、国际合作项目、中国科学院重点部署项目等。截止2025年上半年,在PNAS、ES&T、GBC、ACP、Nature、ESR、QSR等地学主流期刊发表SCI论文200余篇,引用15000余次,第一作者单篇最高引用1500余次,H-index 60。
