应陈怡平研究员邀请，哈佛大学高级研究员Aaron M. Ellison博士来中国科学院地球环境研究所访问并先后于8月22日做了“Identifying, anticipating, and intervening in ecological state changes  ”、8月23日做了“Thoughts about academic publishing?”及8月25日做了“R workshop: Introduction, Packages and Community”三场学术报告，在广大师生中引起强烈反响。

    期间，Aaron M. Ellison博士参观了地球环境研究所生态与环境研究室、加速器质谱中心、气溶胶理化技术等多个实验室以及岩芯库。

　　Aaron M. Ellison博士系哈佛大学哈佛森林高级研究员，同时任马萨诸塞大学生物与环境保护系兼职教授，2012年当选为美国生态学会 (ESA) Fellow。曾任生态学顶级期刊Ecology Monographs主编、 Ecology副主编及Ecology Letters、Ecological Applications、Ecological Archives等多个期刊的编辑。

　　Aaron M. Ellison教授主要从事湿地和森林食物网动态和群落生态学、食肉植物进化生态学、植物和蚂蚁对全球气候变化的响应、贝叶斯统计推断在生态学研究和环境决策中的应用等研究工作。著有“A primer of ecological statistics”和“A field guide to the ants of New England”两本专著，在PNAS、Trends in Ecology and Evolution、Ecology Letters、Ecological Monographs、Ecology 等期刊发表论文160余篇。
